Solar Panel Claims
Worried your solar panels were mis-sold or badly installed on promises that have not come true?
Solar Panel Advice Centre helps UK homeowners understand whether a solar panel sale, installation problem or failed aftercare route is worth reviewing. Start with a free case review and find out which route fits your situation before you spend time chasing the wrong complaint.
When solar panels turn into a problem
Solar panels can reduce bills and support long-term energy savings when they are sold honestly, priced fairly and installed properly. Many households are happy with their systems.
Problems arise when the reality is different from the promise. Some homeowners were told the panels would pay for themselves, that a government scheme applied, or that the system would generate more than it realistically could. Others are dealing with poor workmanship, roof leaks, inverter faults, missing paperwork or installers who have stopped responding.
We are not a government scheme, energy supplier or solar installer. We help you organise what happened and understand the complaint or review route that may apply.
You may need a review if...
A solar panel purchase, installation problem or failed aftercare service did not meet your expectations:
- The savings or payback period were used to persuade you to sign
- The system is not generating enough electricity
- You are unsure whether the paperwork matches what was said verbally
- The installation caused roof damage, leaks or electrical issues
- You were told the offer was free, grant-backed or officially approved
- The seller or installer is ignoring your complaint
Popular complaints from solar panel consumers - which route is right for you?
Different solar panel problems need different routes. A misleading sale is not the same as poor installation, and a faulty system is not the same as a warranty or aftercare issue. The fastest way to avoid wasted time is to start with the part of the story that is causing the main problem.

Mis-Sold Solar Panels
Start here if the sale itself feels misleading, especially where savings, payback, grants, pressure selling or verbal promises were central to your decision.

Ignored Solar Panel Complaint
Start here if you´ve previously tried to make a complaint and been ignored, or if the company who installed your solar panel system seems to have dissolved.

Faulty Solar Panel Installation
Start here if the problem is workmanship, output, roof leaks, inverter faults, missing paperwork or failed aftercare.
If you are not sure where your situation fits, use the Solar Panel Claim Review Guide for a structured first step. If you want to prepare before contacting us, use the Solar Panel Evidence Checklist.
What we look at
A useful review starts with the facts, not assumptions. The key questions are who sold and installed the system, what was promised, what the documents say, how the system has performed and what has happened since installation.
Helpful evidence includes the contract, quote, savings illustration, adverts, messages, photos, monitoring screenshots, warranty documents and complaint replies. You do not need everything before contacting us. Start with what you have and list anything missing.
- Contract
- Quote
- Any other related agreement
- Savings illustration
- Adverts, messages and photos

How the free case review works
Tell us what happened, who was involved and what you were promised. We will help identify whether the issue looks like a sales complaint, installation dispute, warranty problem or another practical next step.
The review does not guarantee a claim, compensation or a specific outcome. It gives you a clearer view of the route and the evidence that matters.

Is every solar panel sale a claim?
No. Solar panels can be sold and installed properly. A complaint is more likely to need review where there were misleading promises, poor workmanship, missing information or failed aftercare.
What if I only have some of the paperwork?
That is common. A contract, quote, related agreement, sales illustration, messages or photos can be enough to start. Missing documents can be listed and requested later.
Can you help if the installer has gone bust?
The route depends on the paperwork. Warranty documents, insurance-backed guarantees and manufacturer warranties can all matter.
Is this legal advice?
No. The website provides general consumer information and a practical review route. The outcome depends on your documents, evidence and circumstances.
